Dr. Shyam Makanjee received his medical degree from the University of Cape Town in 1993. After completing his degree he performed his internship at Groote Schuur Hospital and he completed his registrarship in Ophthalmic Surgery at Groote Schuur Hospital in 2000. In addition he also worked as a Senior House Officer in the United Kingdom in Ophthalmology and as a Senior House Officer in Neurology at Groote Schuur. He continued to assist at Groote Schuur Hospital as a part –time consultant, actively involved in the training of junior registrars and medical students who rotated through the departments programme.
Dr. Makanjee has a private practice located in Claremont and also consults at the Two Military Hospital in the Ophthalmology unit. The Cape Town based, ophthalmic surgeon, specializes in Cataract surgery, LASIK surgery, Diabetic management and Glaucoma surgery but has extensive experience in general eye health care.
